My American career began with this painting. It was not a coincidence that the first painting I sold in the U.S. was one of a lynx. The American lynx and the even more American bobcat are closely related to the Spanish lynx.
When I decided to take the big step to the U.S., my choice of subject could not be an American animal because I only like to paint animals after I have seen them in the air and the light of the country where they live.
I was fortunate to spot a lynx in Spain, which is very rare. The scenery there is very similar to the North American landscape. Walking cats have the appearance of being ghostly; their silent walk and the mysterious feeling they radiate made me choose the title, Ghostly Quiet.
